our history over the years
It’s been one big adventure and we’re incredibly proud of our journey so far.
As the years have passed, we’ve continued to grow and evolve our business to meet changing demands. We’re proud of our history and excited for what the future holds, both for ourselves and our partners.
1979
Established in 1979 by the late Anthony and Brian Donnelly beside Smithfield Fruit Market. It was here that the Donnelly name became known for quality and the personal touch.
Anthony and Brian made it their mission to build personal relationships with each and every customer, going out of their way to bring exciting new produce to the Irish market.
1980
Donnelly’s secured supply contract with Superquinn (now Musgraves Group) founded on quality and service. A relationship that’s gone from strength to strength for over 40-years and continues to this day.
2001
Growing demand leads a move to our new purpose-built facility in St. Margarets . The beginning of a fruitful relationship with our North County Dublin community.
2002
Establishment of Glan Arís Ltd – our returnable crate company.
2004
Establishment of Wonderfoods (donelly fresh foods), our innovation powerhouse specialising in value added prepared salads and ‘ready to eat’ meal solutions.
2012
Our chilled foods service with nationwide distribution is launched.
2013
Let’s grow! Donnelly’s establishes its own farms and glasshouses in North County Dublin to meet exceptional demand, enabling us to grow our own produce just a short distance from our facility.
2014
donnelly fresh foods moves into its new premises with greater capacity in Dublin 15.
2017
New service provision offering for third party companies is launched.
2021
donnelly fresh farms
becomes Ireland’s largest grower of our country’s family favourites - cauliflower, cabbage and pumpkins!
2023
Companies change their trading names to donnelly fresh.
2024
Launch of donnelly fresh brand into the Irish market in late 2023/ early 2024. With a range branded fruit and vegetables and freshly prepared salad and vegetable meal solutions
