Job Description
Working as part of a four-person maintenance team, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for ensuring that machinery, equipment, services and facilities are well maintained and operate effectively and efficiently.
The role will focus on minimising maintenance downtime, supporting production and ensuring food safety and health & safety standards are achieved on a daily basis.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Implement the company preventative maintenance programme through scheduled planned maintenance based on risk assessment and equipment performance.
- Respond immediately to breakdowns during the shift and minimise production downtime.
- Carry out root-cause analysis on breakdowns and implement corrective repairs and preventative actions.
- Inspect, operate and test machinery to diagnose faults and malfunctions.
- Complete all required maintenance records in compliance with food safety and audit requirements.
- Maintain appropriate spare-parts levels based on operational risk.
- Support the maintenance team in achieving budget targets and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety and complete all relevant documentation.
- Work closely with the Production team, providing technical support and advice.
- Participate in staff training where required.
- Plan maintenance and preventative-maintenance activities.
- Ensure external contractors comply fully with site requirements while working on site.
- Be an effective and proactive member of the Maintenance team.
- Work effectively with QA, Production, Operations and NPD.
- Support and participate in business projects that contribute to the development of the company.

You will be a team player who can also work effectively on your own initiative and demonstrate good time-management skills.
Skills, Competencies & Experience
- Diploma or other relevant trade qualification in electronics/electrics.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings.
- Ability to work with three-phase, single-phase and low-voltage DC systems.
- Experience wiring electrical components including MCBs, ELCBs, RCBOs, RCDs, contactors and safety circuits.
- Experience working with process-control hardware, including PLCs and MMIs.
- Knowledge of pneumatics is desirable, including familiarity with sensing devices.
- Familiarity with motors, reduction gearboxes and fluid pumps.
- Mechanical experience is a distinct advantage.
- Strong knowledge of a food-production environment, preferably chilled.
- Good computer skills.
- Good standard of written and spoken English.
- Additional languages would be an advantage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role within the food industry.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Terms of Employment
- Full-time position.
- Five days over seven.
- Alternate shifts:
08:00–16:30
11:00–19:30 - On-call duties on a rota basis.
- Salary commensurate with experience.
