Technical Compliance Specialist 

Key tasks:

  • Manage fresh produce supplier & grower database to ensure accurate information is held and assist to eliminate gaps.
  • Data gathering, through supplier contact and relationship building.
  • Tracking, Reviewing, and evaluating completed Supplier Due Diligence assessments.
  • Ensure the timely approval of new suppliers.
  • Carry out supplier performance assessments.
  • Escalate issues with suppliers and raise complaints as needed.
  • Manage product testing (microbiological and pesticide analysis) as per schedule.
  • Gather ethical, pesticide and certification information for suppliers and produce supplied.
  • Work with attention to detail across all technical / compliance platforms.
  • Supporting all internal and external audits and customer visits as required.
  • Encourage and help drive the site’s food safety culture, to help prevent deviation in the process that affects the safety, quality, and legality of our products.
  • Additional tasks as required by the Technical Manager.

Skills & experience required:

  • Good experience of supplier approval and due diligence requirements for major retailers, food service or major manufacturers is essential.
  • Exposure to certification/approval processes and retailer platforms a distinct advantage. For example, GFSI standards; Leaf Marque; Telus Supply Chain etc
  • Previous experience working in the food industry and HACCP knowledge.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current food regulation and legislation surrounding pesticides.
  • Excellent administration and IT skills, and high attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated
  • Good communication, interpersonal and customer relations skills
  • Methodical/meticulous approach to work but flexible enough to meet the changing needs of the business.
  • Educated to a degree level in food science, food safety management or related discipline is desirable.
  • Experience gained within Fresh Produce would be highly advantageous.
